These maps are for 37xx series and FID 800 is enough to unlock them, follow instructions in post one and copy in Map folder in sd along the .unl file.
    for example Sydney.img + Sydney.unl

to enable pedestrian features, select pedestrian navigation and public transport

    k1UYp
    l9ebnsm
You have to navigate to get to the good.

    Galaxy S5 Kitkat 4.4.2 / Nuvi1200->1250 / Nuvi3790T->34xx / Nuvi 2200 / Nuvi 66 / Oregon 600

Default RE: The set-up with unlock code and simulating a public transportation route.

Since all special versions of cityXplorer for nüvi 3790 have FID = 800 & PID = 1 you will only need one (1) unlock code for all of them. It seems not to be a widely spread knowledge that the "gmapsupp.unl" file can hold all unlock codes in a Garmin GPS unit. If one needs 100 unlock codes for some reason then all can be put inside "gmapsupp.unl".
Just as an example - If you have a memory card with Garmin Language Guide and 5 of the special cityXplorer maps, you just need one 25 character code for the language guide and one 25 character code for the 5 CX maps. All 2*25 = 50 characters written inside the "[Memory Card]:\Garmin\gmapsupp.unl" file as a consecutive string without delimiters or carriage return / line feed. The "gmapsupp.unl" file should be a multiple of 25 bytes (25, 50, 75 ... etc.).

If you don't put the unlock code in the "gmapsupp.unl" file then you have to make one UNL-file for each CX map or embed the unlock code inside the <CX>.img file. It would be easier to just use one unlock code and administrate that in the "gmapsupp.unl" file. This would allow adding more of the special CX maps to the Map directory without any extra copying of UNL data and/or UNL-files.
CX maps should be in the "Map" directory, either on the memory card or in the Garmin unit. The best source to find where a file belongs is to look inside "[GPS unit]:\Garmin\GarminDevice.xml".

This is the "GarminDevice.xml" part for CX maps and how it finds MMR data inside a CX img file.

Here's just some example pictures with cityXplorer Melbourne (Sensis). It works great to simulate even when you're in Europe.

If you're not in the cityXplorer coverage area - Set the unit to GP simulation mode:
    attachment.php?attachmentid=88223

If you're not in the cityXplorer coverage area - Use the "Where To?" ...:
    attachment.php?attachmentid=88220&

... and set a current location (simulated position):
    attachment.php?attachmentid=88224

Use the "Where To?" and choose a end point for your route. Then choose "Public Transit" for the route calculation:
    attachment.php?attachmentid=88222

As a result where should be a route with public transportation data:
    attachment.php?attachmentid=88221

Great tip! I did exactly the same, but I also went to the extreme to add a comment for each unlock code. Here is what my gmapsupp.unl looks like.

    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
Each line starts with 25 characters of unlock code, followed by 23 characters of comments, then followed by a DOS end-of-line (i.e. carriage return + line feed). This format is designed for DOS editors. If you use Unix editors, you can have 24 characters of comments followed by a Unix end-of-line (i.e. line feed only). Or if you use Mac editors, you can have 24 characters of comments followed by a Mac end-of-line (i.e carriage return only).

You can have anything in the comments. I just put MapID and map name. The MapID makes it easy to create a new unlock code for another device without looking up the MapID again. Of course, if 23 characters are not enough for your comments, you can use 23+25, 23+50, ... (in general 23+25*n) characters for comments too. All space of the comments must be filled in. For example, I appended dots to the end of the first line to make the comments 25+23 characters long.

Since each unlock code is in one line, it becomes very easy to add, move and remove unlock codes. If all unlock codes were in one long string instead, it would be very difficult to find where the 50th unlock code starts and ends to remove it.

Hi thanks for the input but basically all of the above I have tried. Ballebar thanks for the info re unlock it will come in handy will use it in some cases in the future.
I seem to have 2 differences which must be do do with why I am not getting public transport.
While all maps are present along with 3d and they work. When I go into "Navigation" I do have a"Pedestrian " mode but there is no mention of "powered by city explorer" as per the screen shot. Also i do not have a "Bicycle" option.
When I go into a simulated trip it does not give me the option "Public transit" Although I do have bus, train, underground selected and saved. So suggestions welcome. Unlock codes are fid 800 pid 1. If I run a trip scenario it just tells me to walk the entire distance. In Transportation mode the "Public Transport" Mode is NOT enabled. So one would assume a problem with the unlock code.

As a seperate issue how to get screensaver shots please, if I plug into computer it just goes into charger/update mode

I had the same problem of not showing EPM until I shut down my device (long pressing the power button) then powered on to reboot and reload the maps again. You may want to give it a try.
