The difference is the lifetime map subscription (LM) which is included with the Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT.
The unit will not have any designation letting you know it is an LMT. If it is either a 1390T or 1390LMT it will be written only Nuvi 1390 or 1390T on the bottom. Just try to register the unit with Garmin and activate your lifetime mapping subscription.

It does come up with an update, but I'm not sure if it is from the NuMaps guarantee (my Nuvi 44 non-lm had the NuMaps guarantee active back in 2022, so it seems like they just extended the 60-day window) or if it is from the NuMaps lifetime that I'm not sure if the device includes. I plan on gifting this to someone coming to visit in a few months, but by the time they arrive there may be 2027.10 out, so If it is NuMaps guarantee then I'd rather wait until they arrive to use it.

Lifetime is not the period of your life, but the period of the expected lifetime of the device.

It seems to me that you are hooked on used Garmin devices.
Make an effort, try more, much more. Start reading a lot..

It's just that they are much more readily available in this area and the demand seems to be higher. Thanks for the reading advice though.

I just mess around with old tech in general and try to give them another life, I have a tonne of other old (obsolete) stuff like IDE cables and IDE hard drives.
