Default How to identify if I have a 1390T or 1390LMT?

I recently picked up a used Nuvi 1390, and this series of gps doesn't seem to show LM/LMT/T branding on the unit itself. Garmin Express doesn't seem to show the branding no matter the gps and their website doesn't seem to recognize my serial number (which also isn't consistent between what is reported by Express and what is shown on the unit sticker).

The difference is the lifetime map subscription (LM) which is included with the Garmin Nuvi 1390LMT.
The unit will not have any designation letting you know it is an LMT. If it is either a 1390T or 1390LMT it will be written only Nuvi 1390 or 1390T on the bottom. Just try to register the unit with Garmin and activate your lifetime mapping subscription.

And considering that the lifetime period has long since expired, it doesn't change anything for you
Lifetime is not the period of your life, but the period of the expected lifetime of the device.

It seems to me that you are hooked on used Garmin devices.

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.

It does come up with an update, but I'm not sure if it is from the NuMaps guarantee (my Nuvi 44 non-lm had the NuMaps guarantee active back in 2022, so it seems like they just extended the 60-day window) or if it is from the NuMaps lifetime that I'm not sure if the device includes. I plan on gifting this to someone coming to visit in a few months, but by the time they arrive there may be 2027.10 out, so If it is NuMaps guarantee then I'd rather wait until they arrive to use it.

It's just that they are much more readily available in this area and the demand seems to be higher. Thanks for the reading advice though.

I just mess around with old tech in general and try to give them another life, I have a tonne of other old (obsolete) stuff like IDE cables and IDE hard drives.

I have couple of the 1300 series and they only had the "T" for traffic. If you wanted map updates you had to pay back then.

Plus this series have long since expired and no longer supported.
A lie goes around the internet before anyone ever fact checked it if it is true or not. In most cases no one ever check anything they just accept it as fact.....

    @Zakk
About that OneTime NuMaps guarantee: When Garmin first introduced GarminExpress with the intent of combining the functions of MapUpdater and WebUpdater, it had more bugs than a hobo's blanket. The joke was that it wasn't an RTM version, not even remotely Beta and was at best a deep Alpha that they inflicted on us, the end-users, to sort out by them then fixing whatever we bleated most loudly about. One thing which was noticed quietly, i.e. not bleated about, by we the users was that some very 'old' non-LM devices which when connected to GE for the first time were again offered the OneTime current update for their factory loaded mapping. Some many years later GE does mostly work properly, but every now and then we hear about an old device which hasn't been seen previously by GE being offered a OneTime update. That includes even if it's an LM device which has previously had its entitlement removed under Garmin's latest surprise from its bag of dirty tricks, i.e. this 'get-out-of-jail-free' legal card:

Neat, huh? THEY unilaterally get to decide when a certain model is at end-of-life. Doesn't matter if it's still completely usable and serviceable. If they say it's life-expended, it is.

In Australia/New Zealand that trick was spung 2 years back with a plethora of 'old' LM devices, many of which i have in my extensive collection and all of which are working fine.

But no, Garmin says they're end-of-life. Check individual models here:

Interestingly, there seems to be inconsistent info regarding affected models depending on the Garmin regional office issuing it. Looking at Holland for one:

Far fewer models than AU/NZ, no nuvi 1xx0, 2xx0 or 37x0 listed for NL for example.
