Internet discussions of some models, e.g., the nuvi 2797 and DriveSmart 51, suggest they are not able to use the large JCV files.

The question then is where did you get the JCV file for the nüvi® 2797LMT?
If you used Garmin Express to update both Nuvi's the nuvi 2597 and the nuvi 2797 then it should work.

You can always re-download the maps to the nuvi 2797 over again there could of been some hick up the first time.
