Default iFix Date on 3590LMT ?

I just got a 3590LMT and was looking for the iFix date in the XML file. I can't seem to locate one.

Has Garmin stopped tracking the dat eof the dfirst satellite fix ? Since it's a LMT model, they don't need that date to determine if you are entitled to a new map update, but I figured they would record the date for warranty purposes.

Maybe they just go by the date you register the device on their "MYGARMIN" site.

But many people never register their device.

Has anyone else located an iFix date on their LMT models ?

    Thanks.

I think this is recorded in NVRAM

Yes. Region 41 is so called NVRAM.
But NVRAM is some way protected from modification.

So technically NVM and internal filesystem are of the same kind.

Region 41 is located in RAM! But this part of device memory is closed for reviewing. So WebUpdater do not read it in any case.

I often have problem with lifetime map update of new devices. So I use the proven ID I do not think about Ifix, but maybe it is reason for that!

As a result we need register device before lifetime update now!?
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

I believe Garmin has changed thier policy and if your unit is one with Lilfetime maps, you do not have to register it any longer in order to update the maps.

I just bought a "used" 3590LMT and the seller said it had never been used. I wanted to see if it had even been turned on and gotten a satellite fix". That's why I asked about the iFix date.

It didn't have the very latest CNNA maps on it. So without registering it, I was able to use the Webupdater to update the maps. No problem.

Now maybe it really HAD been registered before and that's why it let me update the maps.... I don't know.

I wanted to wait a while before "I" regestered it, because that's what Garmin was using to start the warranty period.

I don't know if they still use the registration date or not.

    You mean mapupdater not webupdater?
Becouse webupdater is only to update nuvi firmware and not map.
When nuvi is registered in my garmin you cant register it again with different account becouse is locked to account where first update was made.
So this mean thet user who sell you nuvi never register to mygarmin.

Yes.... MapUpdater. But I also did WebUpdater and updated the Firmware.

I can't wait too long to try to register it... just on case the person who sold it to me had already done it, or if he got it from someone who had registered it.

Garmin will allow a change in registration, but the person who registered it, must go online and UN-Register it.
