Thread: iFix Date on 3590LMT ?

I believe Garmin has changed thier policy and if your unit is one with Lilfetime maps, you do not have to register it any longer in order to update the maps.

I just bought a "used" 3590LMT and the seller said it had never been used. I wanted to see if it had even been turned on and gotten a satellite fix". That's why I asked about the iFix date.

It didn't have the very latest CNNA maps on it. So without registering it, I was able to use the Webupdater to update the maps. No problem.

Now maybe it really HAD been registered before and that's why it let me update the maps.... I don't know.

I wanted to wait a while before "I" regestered it, because that's what Garmin was using to start the warranty period.

I don't know if they still use the registration date or not.

I often have problem with lifetime map update of new devices. So I use the proven ID I do not think about Ifix, but maybe it is reason for that!

As a result we need register device before lifetime update now!?
