Thread: An updated guide to enable JCV, Highway Mode, Lane assist & TTS on 2x5w

Hi, I've sucessfully done the steps, but when using the garmin map, it says that the model is not capable to view the Junction View.

Do I need to upgrade to FW again to the most updated version? My current version :

SW Ver 2.70 Nuvi 2W series S3 P2 V7.

The map I used on my 205w (that showed the message) :

EDITED : Apparently I find the cause... It seems that the Indonesian JCV is locked only for Indonesian F/W. if I flash my unit with Indonesian FW, will the JCV, LA, HWM still viewable?

Or is there any way to unlock Indonesian JCV?

If you are getting an on-screen message saying something like "Indonesian Firmware is required ...etc." then you should be able to flash the Indonesian fw to your unit to view the Indonesian JCVs. Do this at your own risk of course. AFAIK, SG/MY fw is the most versatile though. All the asian JCV files are encrypted and can only be unencrypted by their corresponding fw on the device, that is they cannot be unencrypted (ie 'unlocked') by any method to work with other asian fw. US/EU fw units actually crash trying to view any asian JCV file, at least asian units only display the wrong fw message. (Sorry for slow reply, only noticed your post after replying to the post today by www-lisheng).

I don't know if 205w was ever sold in Indonesia, so i should have added in my previous answer, 'provided that you can obtain the Indonesian fw', behind my comment: 'then you should be able to flash the Indonesian fw to your unit to view the Indonesian JCVs'. I've checked the Garmin Indonesia site, but i don't understand Indonesian:

Make your own inquiries with Garmin and/or their dealers locally there or search Noeman and other forums. Garmin seems to have a policy globally of removing older fw's from their sites so the fact that it's not available now doesn't mean that it never was, provided of course that the 205w was even marketed there. I've been able to obtain legacy fw for other device brands by contacting their support, but my experience with Garmin has been limited in that regard. Good luck.

PS: I see aekhong was unable to help you further with this problem in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Not a good sign imo unfortunately.

I'm trying to perform step2 and the updater prompted "There are no USB devices available."
Any idea?
