    @mpilihp,

    Why not just use the GPX file as is.
    When I make trails and most of the time I have 5 or 6 of them I just put them in the GPX folder and when I want to use one of them on my Topo map I just turn it on.
    I have never made a layer map to work with my Topo map. It is much easier to make GPX files and use them when you need them.
    That way you can always edit them on Mapsource if you want to change the route in any way.

    You could test with this map and layer to see if it works for you.
    If it does then you know you have a problem with the map you are trying to use.

    This is from OpenFietsMap on the subject matter:
    Spoiler: hiking-layer

    GPS:
    Download the gmapsupp.zip and unpack it. Copy the file 'gmapsupp.img' in a garmin folder onto (micro)SD card or internal GPS memory.
    On most modern GPS devices you can rename 'gmapsupp.img' eg OFM_hike.img to use other mapsets like OFM Benelux.
    Older devices (old Etrex series, GPSMAP 60, Edge 600/700 series) can only contain one gmapsupp.img
    In order to combine the hiking layer with a background map you need to send them to your GPS with Mapsource or Basecamp's Mapinstaller.

    asprin624 :

    Hi I had not tried it, been doing the GPX2IMG for many years so I gave it a try and now I know why I wouldnt have done it if I had considered it. It just shows blue dashed tracks like the GPS makes for the log, so no way to colorize the tracks to be primary or secondary trails. Second, I want to be able to see where I have been so I can backtrack if I need to... Would have no idea where Id been.
