Thanks. I was using JNXSCALE to do this. This was the results:

JNX Scale Value: 14, JNX2IMG prompts about not displaying under 200m. Displays between: 5m and 200m
JNX Scale Value: 783, Displays between: 5m and 200m
JNX Scale Value: 839, Displays between: 5m and 200m
JNX Scale Value: 965, Displays at 300m only
JNX Scale Value: 1447, Displays at 300m only

I now tried JNXCustomizer, but the results are the same. I set it to 500m, but on the device, it shows form 5m to 200m, then goes to the "Worldwide DEM Basemap,NR :-(

I have all other maps disabled, but it looks like it needs this Basemap to display anything. With the basemap disabled, no maps display.

    Thanks Giomen!

I re-read the first post here, the known limitations and issues of the current version explain what is happening perfectly:

    1. All the JNX levels with the scales below 864 will be mapped into a lowest zoom level in IMG, it becomes visible from 200m and closer in the devices. If there is more than one level in your JNX with small scale value, the converter will only use one of them - one with lowest scale value (i.e. the most detailed one).

    2. JNX levels are displayed in more than one zoom. For example, a level with the scale value 4777 is visible from 1.2km down to 5m (if more detailed levels are not present in the device). In IMG, in contrast, the level is only shown in the specified zooms, so, to emulate a JNX way of displaying the tiles, they should be placed in all the necessary zooms explicitly.
Current version of the converter does not provide this emulation.
So I guess we have to live with it until the application is updated to solve those issues.

It is still usable for me on the 5m to 200m setting, but not ideal.

For device with JNX support the pure JNX format is more convenient.
AFAIAA, I have to hack my firmware though to use JNX. I'm not sure if that is more convenient, and it is not as safe. Also, it means I can't share maps I made with friends unless they have also hacked their device. Correct me if I am wrong about this :-)

Author of JNX patch is the same as for this program! I think you know this fact and do not have doubt in complete safety of this author creation. All was tested and supported. In any case both of variant use undocumented features of Garmin SW and FW. You must decide or comply with licensing agreements or use very very useful maps!

Screenshot from GPSMAP 421s - map series 23 is working for vector and raster data but default map series 36 is showing only vector on all level:

Have you tried the same thing, but with the MapSeries set to 29 or 31?

I do not remember all tested numbers, but probably all numbers below 35 work fine. Only 36 was cause for problem with raster. 23 was choosing due to the same serie for vektor level above raster...

I do not understand, but I combine a vector is map series 23 and a raster is map series 36 - both layers be showed on own's level properly.

Cnfhbr has found out why the maps made with jnx2img were not displayed in Monterra.
I've changed the converter accordingly, and it seems that maps work correctly, at least in Monterra and GPSMAP 62.

The updated converter can be downloaded from the link in the first message of this thread.

Giomen, could you please check if the maps made with the new version of jnx2img show up correctly in chartplotter?

Where do you download JNX files?
