Quick guide fo convert Nuvi 1490 US to Nuvi 1490 TH
1. Delete Gupdate.gcd from your Nuvi 1490 US.
2. Backup your GPX.
3. Copy th_TH.kbd , th_TH.glx and 006-D2225-00.bin to their folder.
4. Downgrade your FW Nuvi 1490 US to 3.00 US by 1490 300US.rgn with Updater.
or nuvi13xxand14xxseries_regionfileonly__300.gcd.
5. Convert your Nuvi 1490 US to Nuvi 1490 TH by 1490 3.00 US TO 1490 3.00 TH.rgn with Updater.
6. Reboot and checksum your Nuvi 1490US it will be 1490TH FW 3.00.
7. Your Nuvi 1490 is not permanent firmware you can not update directly by original TH firmware
but it work for JCV and Lane assist.

question:
1. which directory to copy 006-D2225-00.bin to? there is no font directory in 1490
2. updater refers to webupdater? but webupdater does not seem to allow me to choose rgn file on my computer to flash...

After I flashed with the thai firmware the system boot but is stuck at the updating traffic receiver software.
What could be the problem and is there any way to disable the traffic receiver?

I think so, you should not rename that file.

even if i bypass the traffic receiver software updating by starting the car engine, the nuvi shutdown when i choose "view map".
in short, 1460 thai fw cannot be used to enable jcv on 1490t...at least not on my unit

What map do you use in Nuvi1490. My Nuvi 1490 TH used Tsm 11.0 TH or EN and gmapbmap 4.00DEM if you use gmapbmap 5.00DEM and Tsm 11.0 DUO it will shutdown when you navigate. Sory I don't test with traffic receiver so Idon't tell you what happen and I want to know when you simulate driving does it can show JCV and Lane assist.
The 006-D2225-00.bin is a Thai font for 1460 TH you will copy it to ExtData folder.

yes i use tsm 11.0 duo.
the problem of traffic receiver updating shows up after i flash the fw to US3.00 and continue when flash to thai3.00, rendering the unit unusable. so i have to flash back to my old fw
maybe our 1490 hardware version is different?
when i choose view map the unit shutdown so i didnt get to the stage of JCV and lane assist....

Please disable traffic receiver while it updating and Please check your HWId is 972 if it is when you downgrade to 3.00 US [ I think your old FW is 4.60 or 4.70 ] it is complete or not by looking in your Inventory Boot BLK, X-Loder and System is 3.00.then flash again to 3.00 TH by 1490 3.00 US TO 1490 3.00 TH.rgn it will be 1490 3.00 TH and check the inventory again Boot BLK, X-Loder and System must be 3.00. [ The above quick guide is for HWId 972 ]
If used TSM 11.0 DUO map and basemap 5.00 DEM it take Nuvi shutdown. Which my experience sometime I can view map and when navigate it will shutdown in some place when I change to TSM 11.0 TH or EN map 4.00 DEM basemap it not.
