Possible bug on DUDU7 car head unit Picture in Picture iGO Nextgen Pal 9.8.27.719974
Hi all
I have been using iGO Pal 9.8.27.719974 since 2021 on various car head units, I originally obtained it from this thread [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]https://www.gpspower.net/igo-primo-nextgen-software/355175-igo-pal-9-18-27-719974-15-november-2017-a.html
I assembled the package according to instructions in the assembling a funtional nextgen package thread and it has worked very well since first use. It is definitely my prefered navigation program.
I use latest pongo skin, with real day/night panorama theme, maps updated and all licience files present, as I say it has worked perfectly on an android 11 unit and an android 10 based unit both using picture in picture or windowed mode on the launcher.
I have recently fitted a new unit which is a DUDU7 Android 13 based unit please see here for details on these units
Spoiler: dudu7

DUDU7
8 core UIS7870 processor 2.7ghz
8gb Ram
Android 13 genuine
Screen resolution 2000 x 1200 (main screen, no idea on windowed mode resolution)
I copied over my igo package to the new unit and initially all was well both as full screen and in windowed mode on the launcher, however 2 days after installing there was a DUDUOS update to 3.6 and then this bug started. In full screen mode it still works fine but in windowed mode on the launcher it boots then says iGO-Pal is not responding, but it is still running or so it seems. I have to tap on close program so it reboots and it can take multiple reboots of the window to settle it down, but if I switch to full screen the problem does not occur. I have a video of it here
Spoiler: Youtube video of the bug
My initial thought is that it is a bug in the picture in picture software in the DUDUOS so I have reported this to the developers and they say it is not a bug in their software. I have tried other navigation apps:
Sygic
Sygic truck
Tomtom NDS
Tomtom Amigo
Magic Earth
Google Maps
Waze
All worked fine apart from iGO, I have also tried other iGO versions and the same thing happens, but on all versions it is intermittent and doesn't happen every time, no version (Bazar, Luna, world) is any better or worse than my prefered Pal.
So my next thing to try was to use the new apk from this thread [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and the bug still happens (it is this apk that is in the youtube video above)
I am now out of ideas so I am asking if any of you experts can see anything I may have missed.
First of all, you are using skin. Pongo. We don't know which edition (specify precisely), whether there are any extras (next to the meteo theme), etc
Second, software that uses split screen is not iGO's natural environment (usually the UI/launcher has to be adapted to it and only for certain variants)
It is easily possible, and it is enough that at least one ux is not compatible with such an environment
First delete/disable lane fullscreen=1
then deal with the rest of the sys related to the display, the resolution is too high. Fix it
So if it doesn't help then try clean edition
If that doesn't work either, feel free to write to the device manufacturer to add iGO support to their launcher

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.
I am using Skin by pongo nextgen 2023-10-21 I have not updated to 2025-07-30 as yet I used this version without issues on a previous android 10 topway TS18 unit in a picture in picture environment. Much prefer pongo skin as do not care much for others except for Frontozd but I find it can be glitchy with Pal.
I have contacted DUDU support who claim its fully compatible with igo
I will try deleting fullscreen from the sys.txt
I may also try older versions of pongo skin
If needed I will try experimenting with removing some UX see if I can isolate any that may be causing issues

Reason: removed excessive quote
I have seen several types of devices, most recently those in the form of an internal rearview mirror, which already had Pal on them.
None used a skin

Indeed my first ever android head unit came with it installed it did use pongo skin from 2019-12, thats how I discovered igo, which led me to this forum because I had to do a full factory reset on the unit and lost the original version that came installed. I have on many occasions attempted to find the pongo skin from 2019-12 but can't find any working links, a shame as I feel it would be worth trying an older version
None of those older devices had a split screen for sure. Nor do most new ones have it.
Pongo skin is extremely complex, hardly every plugin could be adapted to such an environment
You are going in the wrong direction.

The Eonon Q30pro I had previously did have the windowed mode as do all topway based models, and the iGO Pal build worked perfectly, I used it daily for over 2 years so I know it can and does work, of course that could be due to the old unit being android 10 instead of Android 13 like the new unit. These new DUDU7 units have basicly the same thing under a different name, they call it picture in picture or PIP but as you can see in the youtube video DUDU has dual PIP.
I have done some experimenting by using the mod skin from here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
It has improved but not eliminated the issue, If I remove the save folder and reinstall using the original apk then it does seem to fix it completely, but doing that stops traffic from working so that just swaps one issue for another
The thing is that with previous releases of Android, that "windowed mode" had a fixed window, with clearly defined frameworks and resolution
In new releases, these windows are variable (adjustable). This requires the cooperation of both the software and the launcher.
I'm pretty sure the new official iGO has no problem with that. Well, I think the solutions are pretty clear to you

It could definitely be the solution, but I do love to tinker and experiment...this may be the reason I have had many android car units. If I have some interesting results I will report back
