Default TomTom Go Mobile/Navigation/NDS with pedestrian mode

I have used for many years different versions of TomTom Go Mobile (the last one was 1.17) and I was happy that they had always pedestrian mode. However, with my new Samsung S23, after installing version 1.17, I had the message “You can’t connect to TomTom. Try later”. On Google Play store the latest versions is 3.6 but it does not have any more the pedestrian mode that I need.

I searched extensively through internet and found many (previous) Android TomTom versions but the problem is always the same: for the new versions, the connection to TomTim is OK but they don’t have the pedestrian mode. The other/older version that are supposed to have this mode can’t however connect to TomTom after installation. On the other hand, on my old Samsung S10 the 1.17 still works very well and can connect to TomTom.

    So my questions are:
    1. From which version TomTom stopped with the pedestrian mode? I.e. which versions of Go Mobile/Navigation/NDS still have this pedestrian/walking mode?
    2. Is it normal that after the installation of 1.x, 2.x, NDS and MOD versions I can’t connect to TomTom and the app is blocked at the very beginning? Maybe I miss something during the installation... I tried at least 10 apk files from different sites, the installation ends correctly but then there is no connection to TomTom at the application start.

By the way, somebody may say that there are other applications for pedestrian/walking mode as Google Map, Sygic, AmiGo, Waze etc. but for me TomTom Go Mobile seems much better. Thus, if you can suggest a better GPS pedestrian application I will try it.

    Thanks in advance!

P.S. For driving I use TomTom Go Essential. The mobile phone TomTom I use largely in pedestrian mode and seldom for driving as a spare solution.

TomTom has never been very good at topo maps in fact I have never seen one for a smartphone or tablet.
In the screen shot below are both TomTom map vs OSMAND+ map.

As you can see TomTom is missing very much details in regards to paths one could take instead of staying on the street side walks.

    Spoiler: TomTom vs Osmand maps

For walking, Hiking and biking the Osmand+ map is far more details then TomTom Maps could ever hope for.

In saying that when TomTom had "pedestrian/walking mode" it never showed short cuts one could take getting around the city or out in the country side.

TomTom only show how to walk to placed via streets.

That is one of the reasons TomTom dropped that function.

Now with Osmand+ you can also use it as a driving app too. It has many ways of using the GPS app.
Also there are other GPS hiking apps out there too that are just as good......

As for TomTom NDS orginal it has always connected to the server and will give you updates to maps.
None of the mod versions work any more nor is anyone trying to patch and of these apps any more.

So if you want a working TomTom GPS app you will have to use the original TomTom NDS version.

My friend Santa did such a good job (as he always do) in modding NDS version that i use, that it's working very well with traffic and map updates. Screenshots taken today:

Thanks a lot for Osmand+ that I didn’t know! It is so detailed and with so many options that I haven’t seen in any other Android GPS app. Thus, I will definitely use it but I would like to have also TomTom at least as a spare option.

Concerning TomTom NDS, I tried versions 1.9.4, 1.9.6 and 3.19. The first two can’t connect to TomTom and the last doesn’t have Pedestrian mode.

I am wondering why on my old S10 TomTom Go Mobile version 1.17 connects to TomTom and can have updates for all maps. However, after a new installation now of this old version on other phones there is no connection to TomTom. In fact, after at least 10 tries of different old versions there is always no connection to TomTom.

This version 3.4.21 of Santa Claus is very good (thanks) but unfortunately there is no pedestrian mode.

If I recall you had to install the Google Play Store version first be for you installed the Mod version.
Seeing that TomTom Go is no longer you can not download it from the play store.
You might be able to find it on other stores if you are lucky.
TomTom has redesigned the TomTom app completely and is no longer the same app as it was with v1.17 or any other newer version that came after v1.17.

The new TomTom app is called "GO Navigation"

See this link below on how to install this old mod:

Users need to take the time and go over older posts in regards to any and all GPS apps.

    I don't believe that....
You don't get traffic reports and you can't download maps!!
