I connect my eTrex all the time to my PC both Windows 10 and 7 with no problem at all.
Once I am in the interface I tap on the joystick where it shows connected and the screen changes to show eTrex and PC connected.
There is no moving of the joystick just press on it one time.

For using EasyGPS no need to do any of this.
Just connect the eTrex to the PC and start EasyGPS and click on receive. see my post above.
