Default TomTom GO bad battery drainer

    Hi all,
I used tomtomgo for years, S5, S7 edge and more recently my new S10 plus.

Currently i am on v1.18 (2168) and noticed how bad it drains the hell out of the battery.
I've done testing before this post for about a month, i can have gps for runkeeper and bluetooth playing music whilst i am riding about and i will use approx 30% in about 4 hours.
Yet if i put tomtom on instead of runkeeper, i use around 55 to 60%% in same time.

Is there anyway of bettering the battery life with tomtom? or is it what it is?

    Thank you

Go to battery, Energie safe and choice base. Perhaps this will work.

    @Wingchundub,

Did you at least install the next version to see if that helps with you battery drain?????
I have tested this app for some time now and have not run into a battery drain.
But I do have it on a cable in the car as I am using it. I would think you are using it that way too.
That would be the proper way to use the GPS or any GPS app for that matter.
Plus if you are using traffic with data and what ever else you are running the battery would run down faster.
So when you are driving plug it in to the lighter and no battery drain.......
If that is not the way you use TomtomGo then have a power bank with you.
The app is a lot heaver than runkeeper and with use more power.
Like others have said check you setting on your phone to optimize the battery use.
Or if that does not work then try one of the other GPS app's here and see if it is better.

    Anyway have a nice day...........

    I am using
v1.18.1 and no battery drain on my S10+ also using Tomtom NDS v1.7.6 and no battery drain on that app to.
so it could be just your phone not setup right for the battery

I will use it sometimes if needed in the car, but mainly it is on my mountain bike.
I root my phones and install custom roms for years, so no bloatware etc taking memory, draining etc in background.
Just noticed it when first few occasions using the version of GO i mention above.
I do not use data when out and about so not using live traffic etc.
I have installed the next one and will see how it goes.
I have also changed some battery saving settings which i've never had to before, but again, will see how it goes.

@KTX, is there a difference using the Tomtom NDS v1.7.6? I've not used that as yet, any feedback would be appreciated
    Thank you

    @Wingchundub,

For mountain bike use I would use OSMAND+ it is much better for off road use.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I use it in conjunction with my GPSMAP 66S and eTrex.
See that GPX file from Garmin work with OSMAND+

If I were you I would give it a try.......

    Hope this helps you.

One thing if you do try OSMAND+ please move to that forum area for talks..........

I use both in my can but find that Tomtom NDS is a litter bit better as the map shows more info on it. and gets updated more as will.
There are less options as will but still works great.
