That's exactly what TomTom is doing. In the Netherlands the Flitsmeister app is very populair in combination with maps. Outside the Netherlands this TomTom app is doing the same.

So TomTom attracts people that at the moment do not use the Go app, but may do so in the future. TomTom already has the data (traffic, speed cams). Just a marketing tool for them.
