The last version to give you info in map updates was v1.0.6.

If user's would just take the time to read older posts you can answer the question yourself.

After v1.0.6 no update info is given.

You have to delete the old maps and then download the new ones.

I clearly misunderstood or incorrectly recalled previous threads/posts, very sorry.

Are notifications for the availability of mapping updates going to be brought back? Very odd if they're not.

One should expect so, but TomTom isn't very active when it comes to updating or improving its apps.

Regular Go mobile app is almost 1'year old. No updates since. The fact that you can not use HFP is very well known by TomTom for years (!!!!), but no solving that problem

    Of course
Just a few days ago the update for standalone devices came out. For mobile, it will be in a couple of weeks.

TomTom nds is better than TomTom go as you don't have to do much after installing it to get for example traffic info. The only thing I liked more on TomTom go was next turn display as it was smaller than the kind nds has got. Apart from that nds is way better.

Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion but I don't follow this reasoning.
Traffic info works the same in both GO and NDS. Install the app, make sure you have internet access and you're all set. I don't really see how NDS does this better then GO.

Personally I like the lane guidance in GO more then the "modern" iteration in NDS. Other then that both versions get me where I need to be.

Route calculating alghoritm in nds is different. That's the difference and in my opinion nds does it better.

But on lane guidance I agree: Go is nicer.

But the map coverage in the NDS version is much worse. Nearby, some smaller streets are missing, and a shell gas station that was built 6 or 7 years ago is not shown either.
The advantage of the NDS version is only the route simulation from any point, and of course that you can load smaller maps

Myself tried sygic, navigon, go and nds. Sygic crashes, has always issues map doesn't zoom and such, navigon has died they discontinued it. Go works pretty well but no pois no traffic unless you use mobile data and create TomTom account.
Nds is best mobile navigation, it does show poi's, route calculation isn't best as I don't know for what reason sygic was showing the best route while nds was always choosing roads around. Another minus of Tom Tom is that doesn't show you three routes you can choose from like in other navi apps, instead you have to reroute. Apart from that best navi app I have tried.
Well once I wanted to go to a small village and nds got confused first it calculated route and I went it was like 60 miles away when I was around 5 miles from the destination nds realised threes no more road it was trying to lead me through farms and such roads you can drive only tractors on, good I didn't trust TomTom I said no and ngs recalculated had to do another 25 miles back and take another route. It seems nds has problems with tiny roads and or blocked roads. Its still best navi app.
