You will only see default poi's when you have a route to go to.
It will show the gas stations and speed cams along with traffic from point A to B.
You can pick gas stations before a route and it will show all the gas stations around you.
The same with parking.
But you will not see anything if you are just driving with out a planned route.
It will show all you contact on the screen with or with out a planned route.
Most will show a Blue dot and a white star.
If you zoom in and have a photo of your contacts it will show their photo.
Post 91 second item is the manual in French.
Read through it.
If you still are not happy with the info than you will have to take it up with TomTom direct.
PS:
It is the same for the New TomTom NDS app also.
