    Hi Maury22,
yes definitely files\files folders. And .metadata.xml in every files folder to be on the safe side. The rom is cyanogenmod so should be ok.
What should be in .metadata.xml? \Android\data\com.tomtom.your_country or maybe \Android\data\com.tomtom.your_country\files
    thanks

..........Procedure valid ONLY if you made ROOT..........

I try to give a procedure that works for devices with root and devices without root.

    I didn't understand ....

If you mean change this path, is useless :

    <url location="file://mnt/sdcard/tomtom/com.tomtom.europe"/>

Cyanogenmod is ok for you....not necessarily for TomTom ..

Yes, I mean editing the path in .metadata.xml
So you say it is useless to edit this path. This means Tomtom knows where to look for the map files on its own?

Perhaps this version of cyanogenmod is unhealthy for TomTom
    thanks for your help

Tomtom head softwares on some terminals with Stock Rom (like all other producers of softwares), not in non original ROM.

In my Italian Forum, more than 5,000 users have installed TomTom software, and no one ever changed the path into metadata.
Then ...... everything is possible in this world.
    For example:
for 80% of Huawei devices, TomTom don't install if the folder is placed in the external SD......the problem lies in the strange denomination of the external SD. It can be installed only in the internal memory

I did some testing using different roms on i9300 (galaxy s3). I checked with cyanogenmod and aokp for android 4.3.2. Tomtom installed properly on external sd on android 4.1.2; 4.2.2; 4.4.2 and 4.4.4. But with android 4.3.x no way Installation on internal memory was ok. So what's the problem with android 4.3.2?

This was just curiosity By the way, indeed, only the size should be edited in .metadata.xml file. It seems that android 4.3.x was quite short-lived because there are quite a lot of builds for other versions and usually only 1 for the 4.3.x

    Thank you for help!

Sorry, but I have a problem.
    How can I create my .metadata.xml ??
I need some application to create it? I need patch it with a external program (like in my TomTom device that I use the Activation pack in my PC) ??

The metadata.xlm there are already for all Apk ....
    For what you need?

... but in TOMTOM >> COM.TOMTOM.XXXXX folder is already the metadata.xml .... if you don't see it, is because you have not enabled the viewing of hidden files (on PC and Smartphone...)..

    Don't use a PC with Mac O.S. !

    EDIT :

TomTom Android work from 480x320 resolution at that 1920x1080 resolution....
Samsung 8.4 Tablet has 1600x2560 resolution......

    Black maps !!
