    It appears you have confirmed this device's HWID but as there are 2 , dependent where it is from just be careful.

    I think you're looking on the wrong side

    First, there is a corresponding topic on the Forum. Please read it carefully and leave all the necessary information

    Btw, from what I've read, that's a common problem with them. It is mainly solved by fully charging (!), or replacing the device.

    Thank you for your answers. I think it is easier to buy a used Navigator.

    @GuMoM
    Before you give up and buy another one, be aware that there's also a lesser-known 3rd US/EU Nav VI with 006-B4044-00, issued later than the other two (2584 and 2842) as indicated by its higher HWID numerals and with firmware Version 10.00.

    The devices with HWID of 4044 have a different LCD screen than the earlier 2584 US/EU devices and were initially issued as replacements for the many 2584 devices which experienced screen fade/ghosting several years ago. You can read about a member who mistakenly flashed the wrong fw to his newer 4044 Nav VI here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. In late 2022 at the time of that thread there was no fw available on the Garmin servers for 4044 devices, however since then Garmin has issued V10.10 on March 25, 2024:
    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    It seems likely that your device is HWID 4044 due to you reporting that Updater.exe will not load RGNs named 258401000590.rgn or 284201000280.rgn and gives you the "no updates available for your device" message. However, do not try to load ANY further RGN files until you are 100% certain of its HWID. You'll need to use G7ToWin to obtain it in preboot mode unless you have a previous backup of the device's GarminDevice.xlm file. Read here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Post again if you need more assistance.

    Hello Neil.
    Thank you! It worked.
    I was able to upload it with garmincure3 as cure, then i saw the device with files on the windows explorer.
    Then i formatted the device with rmprepusb. After that i uploaded the original file with garmincure3.
    But.........
    Now the device starts, loads the maps, asks me to choose the language and then.........reboot.
    I think the device is really broken.
    Greetings!

    First make sure the battery is in good condition. Easier and cheaper

    @GuMoM
    More to try yet before you sh**can it!

    (i) Does it only do that on battery or also when connected to a proper power source like the 12V Garmin car charger? As Boki said, ensure the battery is charged and in good condition although usually it wouldn't reboot rather it would simply turn off.

    (ii) After or belore loading the original fw (following using RMPrepUSB), you've obviously restored at least some files. If you re-used detail maps and other files from a backup rather than obtained them from GarminExpress, you may have merely recreated the same problem.

    (iii) If all files are new from GE maybe it's indeed got a hardware issue, however if you're booting it totally empty it might be simply that it needs to at least have a Garmin root folder so create one manually, with or without an empty GarminDevice.xml inside it (use NotePad or any other text writer to make the XML). I can help with files from a healthy US/EU Nav VI.

    (iv) Some modern devices also need to have other files like Voices etc. onboard. Read the explanation by kunix in the last point of note 2 of the initial post of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Hello Boki.
    Today i ordered a new battery and hope it works...
    Regards

    Hello Neil, thank you.
    (i) I tried also with a charger and ordered a new battery today.
    (ii) I did not restore files
    (iii) All files new. After that i installed an update and maps using Garmin Web Updater (The web updater finds the device, and updated without problems!)
    (iv) I did exactly that: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    I will write you if it works with the new battery (Friday).

    Thanks and

    Greeting from Germany
