Default Garmin Mobile PC v5.00.70g and City Navigator > 2014

To be honest I'm not sure if there are any users of Mobile PC nowadays...

I have an old CarPC set up on RideRunner with AutoMapa and Garmin Mobile PC embedded. For years I've been using the first one and Garmin was just a backup with GPmapa and CNE 2009.

This year I'm going to drive beyond of what AutoMapa can guide me through, so had to do some maintenance on the Garmin. I started with updating CNE, just in case.

It turned out that you cannot use CNE > 2013 in Mobile PC :/ The map is recognized in Map sets however its size is displayed wrongly (1010,1 Mb in stead od 3,2 Gb in 2014.14, 636 Mb in 2015.10) and cannot be used for browsing nor routing. If a part of CNE 2014.40 with only Poland is taken it works perfectly.

And here comes my question is there a way to make Mobile PC recognize newest CNE, apart from cutting it into pieces (I will try 2 Gb to see if it works)? Has anybody tried what maximum size of map i recognized? There is the limit of 4 files, so the less parts the better...

Max size in Mobile PC is 2 Gb, like for Mobile XT.

    I thought so...

For now I tried cutting NTU 2015.10 with BaseCamp.GMPC hanged up on that so probably NTU wasn't the best idea. I'll try to get 2014.40 NT and give it a shot.

Maybe my skills just got rusty. Just remembered a time when I drove through almost all of Wester Europe with Mobile XT launched on SE p990i that was glued to the windshield with a piece of duct tape... Everything was so much easier then

when I use Topo Maroc v2 in GMPC .70 and choose zoom level 2km and lower, some parts of the "unpaved roads" disappear. Is there a way to fix this? Or is this topo map not compatible with MobilePC?

Garmin Topo maps are ok in Basecamp, MPC is too old and not built for topo maps

    thanks catymag,
It seems there are not many alternatives for navigation with a laptop or tablet.
Apart from Quovadis, Oziexplorer, Fugawi, which programs I find overly complicated, could you recommend anything else?
I really liked to have a big laptop screen in the car and be able to "look far ahead" in a moving map. The biggest screen GPS you could get is a montana or Zumo 660LM.

    obrigado
