It seems most of your problems are sorted one way or another, except your 'speed cam' question. In navigation mode (actual or simulated) you should get a screen and audible warning as you approach them. I think that Cyclops safety cams would work in your device, one way to be sure they are compatible would be to connect the SD with GarminDevice.xml to GarminExpress to see if it offers Cyclops for purchase:
    Code:
Please Login or Register to see the links
If they are offered then the latest available 'unlocked' (actually, they're decrypted) file for UK/ROI from the [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] should work fine. You should be able to check on the device if you have them properly loaded (use Garmin\POI folder).

I say again that there seems to be a problem with the head unit reading the external SD, that opinion's further strengthened by your report above about it not reading files from there. Any files loaded onto the SD by GE or manually should be read in hierarchy over the internal microSD.

PS: Which GPI files did you dissemble or convert to CSV? Cyclops files are not easily broken down like other 3rd party cam. files.

I've just done what you suggested with a blank SD card containing the GarminDevice.xml file on it.
GE shows safety cameras and live traffic, but when I click safety cameras, it says no product available :-(

The .gpi file I converted was one I downloaded from web which was already in .csv format, it had 'some' UK speed cameras, but the ones local to me were in there, I converted it to .gpi with poiloader, it was not an official file unfortunately.

I would tend to agree about the external SD card slot having an issue, but it correctly reads the gmapsupp.img file from the card in the slot, just doen't want to load the voices, vehicles, poi's from it.

It's no big deal though, at least i've got mapping working, which is a huge leap from when I started and had nothing.

Really appreciate all the help and patience, it's time to put the unit back in the car and go for a drive.
