better to remove .gma and .unl they contain personal infos, and useless for other users

Used the sdcard technique, it work, using a unlock img, you need the gma and unl files. I just created a blank gma and unl file on my SDCard, now my 890hd map is 2015.3 (JCV & Lane assist working) from 2012.2. Before I learned about the gma & unl file, I would get a message "Cant unlock map" although my map was unlocked.
Does anyone know the built in memory size and the file structure of the nav. in the 890hd, also how to load custom poi, vehicle or voice ?. Any help is appreciated.

gmapsupp.gma and gmapsupp.unl is from purchased 2013.20 map and you don't need it if you download unlocked img from this forum.
This two files is only for @EuroDriver unit and only for 2013.20 map and now with 2014.30 map this files don?t work and you can delete it.

Thanks for your insight - I guess I'll delete those 2 links. Now, if you can help us out with a couple other questions:
1) Is the InstaSearch & gmap3d.img files needed; and
2) How can custom vehicles & voices be added to this unit?

So I can update to the internal memory using all the same files and just delete the gma and unl file?

Select your device: DNX9990HD

Then you will see this:

1.) Insert USB drive into your navigation unit.

2 On the navigation interface, touch: Settings > System > About > Update Map (This will initiate data export from the navigation unit onto your USB drive)

3 When the export is complete, remove your USB drive

4 Insert the USB drive into your computer and click the Read Media button below

So go to car and folow instruction abowe

After this connect your USB to Pc and click button Read Media and you will see available update for your device.

When you download it to your usb, go to car and click on update map and you will update your device.
I hope that here will be also new vehicle and voice.

I look and instasearch is not supported also no voice path in xml.

On old kenwood if i remember correct voice file was outside Garmin folder and updated with Unit FW.
I change it when i connect unit with Pc and explore internal disk.

I look manual but can't find mini usb hole in back side of unit.

Armed with my new-found understanding of reading the XML file - it looks like having the 3D map image is also useless? Adding the G2S files might be worth the while too?
