Sorry, you actually edited your post while i was replying to it. This is what my reply referred to:

I didn't mean that you'd be 'better off' buying the card with the gmapsupp.img already on it per se. Only that the download doesn't contain the img itself, just the means to create it. It's not hard to use MapInstall at all: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].

    Now, about your edited post:

I downloaded from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] But I'm confused. There is a gmapsupp.img file and OpenMapChest Caribbean 2015.09.16 I extracted. I see no ASR2 files like your tutorial mentions. Do I drag the gmapsupp.img file onto gimgunlock.exe? When I do nothing happens. Not sure what to do.

    Thanks!!!!!

    Alex
The archive you've downloaded contains both the PC installer and an already compiled gmapsupp.img for Garmin OSM Caribbean which it seems includes Anguilla but also a whole lot of other parts of the Caribbean you'll likely not need. Going by the GMapTool info below it seems it's unlocked already. You could just install the map data to your PC using the .EXE and choose only Anguilla and make a tiny gmapsupp.img yourself with MapInstall.

Thanks for the info! For now I just bought Anguilla on the SD from gpstravelmaps just to make things easier plus I'll have the card for my other Garmin stand alone navs too.

    Thank for this post !
    CONFIRM working on DNX9990HD .
I used usb and now I have 2017.10 map on interal memory.
    * Dont need the Pnx file ,just create the Pnx folder
    * Create 2 blank txt file and rename to unl and gma file .
After read 15 pages of this tut I still cant download the 2 file unl and gma, also I cant download the old 2014 map,so I decided to try with the usb to copy map to unit,if I fail,I still can copy it to my SD card, but it WORK, 10 mins loading from 10%-99% Im just so ready for my unit to brick or "error".But it work.
I updated firmware and bluetooth to the newest firmware like month ago (new year 2016),that why I thought it not gonna pass the gma protect, but may be Im lucky.
The base map before update is 2012.10 .Normally I just copy new map and put it in SD.
I download 2017.10 map from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] post #2 from kenta2
.Create all the folder like in post 27,download all the new file like G2S,SID,JCV...,I also remove my SD card that had 2016.10 map before I put the unit in stand by and update.
Thank again and hope it help, now I can use my SD for speedcam

I just installed 2018.10 NT Unicode. No problem (normal function). I noticed that the icons have changed. JCV works for anybody? None of the versions I have tried works.

EDIT. I mean it works from SD external card, I don't think internal card has the capacity

I suppose you're asking if corresponding US Garmin map is Unicode or not? The answer is that Garmin has never made a unicode-compatible City Navigator for North America. For full Europe, both Unicode and 'non-unicode' versions are available for CNs, i.e. NTU and NT. The demand for mapping that can handle non-latin characters is much higher in Europe than elsewhere, simply because many European languages use Cyrillic and cyrillic-like characters e.g. Russian, Polish, Latvian and as you'be be well-aware, Greek. Pan-Africa was a map that was issued solely in NTU but has been discontinued, maybe there are a few others.

Yes Europe. However Greek are Greeklish. And I am not very happy with the details and street names presenting on the map. On my previous Kenwood DNX, had a very interesting feature, it showed the name of the next cross street. And a lot of more detail.

    @thalex
Yes, JCV only works when navigating and that's intentional. When you think about it, it would make no sense to have junction views show for 'moving map' without navigation.

Just like to add that JCV's are navigation guide. That is, it help telling you where to go. So it needs a route to do that.
Do not PM me with questions. That's what a forum is for.
