I just edited my post above with some additional info I'm on KitKat. In zervdim's post all links are dead, so i don't remember where i downloaded the apk's from. The LoquendoTTS folder, i just took it from my old phone which was working correctly. Phone is HTC M8, rooted and s-offed.
