If you give wrong syntax such as missing ; or ## or wrong comment, etc...it won't work because lua is interpreted not compiled and unless there are some sort of debug/log to look at, you probably don't know what's wrong. What editor are you using? You need to use one that can handle both DOS/Unix because of end of line conversion. When you "zipped" it back up, did you use the correct version of Winrar? Wrong .zip format will prevent iGO from reading/extracting the .zip file.
