Well, seems to appears here good things about kml etc.. Im not experienced as you are but seems to be interesting to learn
I agree with @rondoan,manny people dont know dont care about how work kml, i have alot of friend When something go wrong with iGO they call me and i try to explain to do some changes in sys or simply move, comments replace ux map or something else They simply refuse to do things "its complicated they said"
Not manny people its not willing to learn this days
