Lithuania - tomtom -teleatlas better
Macedonia HERE/Navteq
I prefer HERE for Latvia, Lithuania.
I searched the whole thread for an opinion about France. If ever someone did give, it's gone now
Can a French user comment on best maps to use in France, if possible the northern region near the coast?
Thanks!
Yeah, all gone.
Since my cousin went to France several of months ago, I also looked here. I was surprised that couple of users recommended TT.
A general belief is widespread that Here maps are better for western Europe. But in last few years, situation has turned.
I did not (and so far do not) share this general belief. In my previous comments in this thread, I gave several reasons for the why.
Never the less, I accept HERE or TomTom being better in certain parts of a country. As In Germany many say the south is better covered by HERE, north by TomTom.
I used (before this thread came out) TomTom maps in the black forest and Bavaria without problems, by the way.
On a side note, I drive around in western Europe, it's been a long long time since I have been in the east. Last time was 2005 or so, using TomTom maps (and program) in (previous) Eastern Germany. That experience fits the Germany allegation a few lines up.
edit:
Forgot to say, I have been in Eastern Europe (Poland, ...) but that was before GPS, somewhere in the second half of last century![]()

Really? For me the opposite.
I grew up very near to my present work spot. As long as I know there is a street that passes the entrance of the car park there which exists for almost 50 years. Yet Here does not know that street, so Here never is able to route me to work. Imagine!
TomTom knows that street and even knows the internal car park pavings. Here doesn't as Here doesn't know many more industrial areas (see my other posts).
At home, somewhat further, 300 meters, the street bends. Both TomTom and Here always take the correct route but Here showing the curve as a complte "Y", both ends leading to the the next street, only there is no "Y", just a slight bend.
And so on.
