I prefer using the built-in MediaNav in my Dacia, but I often have my Google Maps running as well just to be double safe, sort of... Especially in city centers where there is lots of changes going on.

I used smartphone with iGo and Waze installed.
I used iGo for planning route between cites and Waze if I know there are some problem on the roads (closed or repaired roads).
Waze has the most accurate info about road situation.
Smartphone is always with me. Dedicated navi not.
