    What's the high purpose of installing Android there? Porting linux kernel typically leads to red eyes and haemorrhoids, so what can we expect from this? Isn't it better to buy a cheaper Android device?

    I see one big profit of such Garmin hardware database. We can try to figure out which firmwares are suitable for some device models, then choose the best firmware, and port it.

    Because someone can?

    Seriously, the why in this case doesn't matter. The point is that it's theoretically possible. Is it practical? No, but Android developers aren't always into practical.
