I now realise from [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] that you have a 3790, not a 3490, so MTP setting is not present. You have probably bought a 'factory renovated' nuvi, so to all intents it's like a new unit, in that there is no gupdate.gcd present. you are right neil. it is garmin refurbished unit. it is in a very pristine condition and i can say it wouldn't be mistaken as used. i decided to get this for the try and i wouldn't spend so much for a thing i may end up breaking and turning into a paperweight.... sorry for the confusion about the 3490 and 3790. my fault because i posted on the 3490 thread. but i couldn't search for anything i can quote relevant to my problem hoping the ts would acknowledge my post. well anyway, this is something i have learned today to start with. i am just so grateful i found this site with lots of nice people with hands ready to offer.
