File Management Strategy
The first post in this thread, as well as others, added greatly to my knowledge. Also, this knowlwdge has me in a position to do myself a lot of damage that I'm hoping someone can help me avoid.

My situation: *1490T with lifetime MAP upgrades, and 4GB SD card. *I've set it to store Track Logs, which are stored by default in System/Logs/gpx. * I'd like to move recording of the track logs to the SD card, but don't know the conditions or consequences. *Map updates invariably give me a headache because it's reported that I "don't have enough space". My headache occurs as I struggle to decide what files and folders I can move or delete. (I backup to my PC before before moving or deleting)

What would help a lot is to put files & folders into categories, something like the following:

A - Don't move or delete these file/folders, else unit won't work: xxxxx, yyyyyy, etc.
B - These files/folders can be moved from to if:
C - These files/folders can, unconditionally, reside in either the unit's RAM, or the SD card. rrrrrrr, ssssss, etc.
D - Whatever categories I've missed.
