    to install?
    well, nothing to 'install', just simply place (copy, move) .gmap where you like, and tell Mapsource and Basecamp that place with a shortcut.
    for .img you use removable drive, real as well as virtual usb-drive, even virtual HD works - Basecamp finds them there.

    Fully compiled *.img files usable by your device are not visible to MS, only BC and HomePort (for marine maps). Maybe typo, did you mean 'HomePort and BaseCamp finds them there'?

    Yes, but then they are no longer an image file are they. They become a 'reverse-engineered MS Version' with crippled search, useless to recompile back into a *img file.

    yes, thanks for correcting, my human error, sorry;

    I edited that post.

    I use mostly Basecamp, so I simply mixed two things in my mind: seeing usb-drives themselves, and seeing what's actually on them.
    Mapsource that I found here can see even all my HDs, too.
