Well , beside the "part number : 006-D2785-00" , I change the name to be "Narisa" and Map name to be "Thai_Narisa" , just like what Aekhong told us to do in the first page .

*** DO NOT use the delete button on the un-wanted character , go to the left panel and put "00 which is Blank" instead .
Finally , you will see that after doing the checksum , file size will be exactly the same as the old fw_all.bin.

Finally able to change Chinese Firmware with TTS. Thanks Aekhong for all the help.

Now my SG device turn to US.Still finding the way back to SG. This happen when I accidentally upgrade the 2.5 firmware from the website and did not realized that it was for US version. It took me a long Holiday in US version.

*This doesn't happen with TTS changing.

I was wondering why you were not using my program RGNVoiceEditor to do this, but I just realized I forgot to make a web page for it. Guys, check this link and let me know if you have issues:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Note: not sure it works for TTS voices. Post feedback and I'll see what I can do.

    Turbo

    Edit: How-to

    0. Run RGNVoiceEditor

    1. Click the Open button and select your GCD or RGN firmware. This must be
the proper TWN firmware modified for your HWID gps. If you have no clue what
I am talking about, you should not play with this.

    2. You should see a list of supported voice on the left side. On the right
side, you can select the new voice you want to add. Do not change the
    English_American_ voice.

    3. You need to save the modified firmware with the new voice. Click the Save
button. The new firmware will be saved as RGN. v1.04 has a bug. You need to
save the RGN first before doing step 4.

    4. For each voice you select in step 2, you need to convert it to make it
compatible with the TWN firmware. Click the button to select a
US-firmware-type voice and to convert it to TWN firmware. the suffix 'twn'
will be automatically added to the modified file. We'll talk about this later.

    5. You are nearly done. You need to flash your GPS with the new firmware. If
you do not know how, you should probably go and watch TV. This is not for the
weak of heart. Boot your GPS in the service mode and use update.exe to install
    the new file.

    6. Copy the modified VPM file to your GPS. Make sure to remove the 'twn'
suffix I added to the file. It needs to have the original name when put on
    the GPS.

    Hi Turbo,
tested your tool previously with SG/MAL Firmware, it can open these firmware also. So maybe it works also for other asian firmwares.
But I admit, I haven't tested cause i use a Taiwan Firmware where its working great

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, RGNVoiceEditor has been designed to work with firmwares from other countries. If it not specific to SG/MAL. Adding non-TTS voices is not a problem. Making them play correctly is another one. Some languages have different rules. You need to add a language that is already supported otherwise there is a chance things will not be spoken correctly. The tool also includes a patcher to convert the voice if it does not work correctly without patch. If someone encounters the issue, I'll give more details.

    hi turboccc;
After i try to use your tool RGN_voice_editor with nuvi 3790T fw us,That make rgn from RGN_Tool_v60. The first thing after i open it,it said there are too many voice, but still work. Then after i change it to thai(both of them that show on screen).then i save it again,as you told above. Then click convert,i select narisa_tts,a message show runtime error '6' overflow

    Hi sitt01,

Yes: "too many voices" is just a message saying I was too lazy and I can only display around 15 voices. The rest is not displayed, but it does not affect the operation of the program in a ny way. Just ignore the message. It is just a warning.

Now, I need to ask a few questions about what you are trying to do.

1- What is your original 3790 fw? Is it US or Thai?

2- You have a Thai fw and you converted it to US fw using RGN Tool. Why do you want to convert narisa_tts? Is it because it does not work by default?

The "convert" button is only for non-TTS voices. Narisa is a TTS voices. It explains why the program crashes. In your case, I would simply replace a TTS voice (in the left), but Narisa (on the right). Is Narisa in my list? If not, I can add it if you want.
