That 680 [with Bluetooth] was more obviously hardware related as both the BT and GPS software versions showed 0.00. Because the unit is reporting to GE and WU that it's GPS sw version is lower than the latest available they will offer the update endlessly.

Thanks again for the reply. I suppose if I had access to one I could try it just to confirm if it was a hardware problem with the antenna or not, but I don't have access to one and if I'm going to buy another antenna cable I might as well just bite the bullet and buy a new satnav.
