nuvi 55/56/65/66 software summary

I have updated the firmware of my 55LM to version 4.40 and the map South America 2016.10 is still working.

Some time ago I updated to version 4.30 and it didn't work, I had to downgrade to previous version; now with this new version it works, great news...

Because the map I'd downloaded said it was already unlocked, I simply copied onto the microSD card and got nowhere. But after reading your comment about using gimgunlock+magsigpatch, I tried that, and success!! Thanks very much for the advice - I'm so glad I came across this forum, not only for the help this time, but also because it's an entertaining read, and full of useful information.

Hello catymag, is there a way to know what software was used to unlock a map?

I ask because I downloaded a Europe map (CN Europe NT 2015.20 by mafozi) and it doesn't work with firmware 4.50 on a Nuvi 55

Can it be re-unlocked with the latest gimgunlock+mapsigpatch? or Do I need the original locked map?

You can run on it gimgunlock+mapsigpatch, no problem, if the map is good. Next time download original locked map and unlock by yourself.
I distrust these modified files. Btw your map is old, latest version is 2016.10

) what a great utility this is, it fixed my Map in just a few seconds.

I've been trying to download a newer map but those zippyshare files are taking a lot to download.

I also distrust these kind of files, but I found this map before I found this great forum.

Probably NO! Only if you exchange it to 2-3 Nuvi 55/56/65/66

Sorry but changes was implemented by Garmin only for this device.

It works with NT maps, but not with NTU maps. But, for example, NT maps do not has JCV file for these nuvi.

You can use a temporary authentication for Unicode maps with the fw 4.40, see [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
