Hey, I'm new to the forum and I just bought a nuviCam. I'm trying to figure out where the 3D images (3D buildings and such) are stored. The file gmap3d.img is not in the file structure anymore. If you, anyone or if you know someone whom might know what they replaced gmap3d.img with I would really appreciate any explanation. I've attached a list of files on the nuviCam that are greater than 25 Mb. Anything that was modified on 5/19/2015 was modified or created when I ran the first update via Garmin Express.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Check garmindevice.xml file, it shows all supported files and their paths

When you check as Caty's suggested you'll find that it doesn't support gmap3d.img [3-D buildings and landmarks] unfortunately. It's probably closer in standard features to a 2599 than a 3597 really, but it does have the cool dash cam with Lane Departure & Forward Collision Warnings which i'd rather have instead of the distracting 3D overlays any day. Heavy little sucker though and half-hour battery life along with over 11oz weight makes it hopeless out of the car for pedestrian use. 6.1" is a handy size screen and it's got 480x800 pixels higher resolution like the 3997 too. Nice!:PS: Just noticed that's your first post, so welcome to GPSPower. [hint - read my signature].Code:Please Login or Register to see the links

But what happend if we try add a 3D map manualy? Any chance to see 3D landmark? Is this device accept "modifyed" map of other region?
I want to buy it when it will be available in Germany (or other country with Digital traffic). But now i think, may be soon Garmin will release another model of NuviCam with 3D? "NuviCam 3D"And i need to wait some time?
It'll do nothing except take up space on unit or card sorry.
Nup, see above. If there is no reference to "3Dmaps"/"gmap3D" in the unit's GarminDevice.xml then as said by catymag 3D Buildings & Landmarks is not supported. Garmin could add support to future firmware versions if they wanted.Any chance to see 3D landmark?
You won't see anything like that in nuvicam's xml file i'm sure. If you're a coder you might be able to reverse-engineer the firmware and add the function from another device's firmware but you'd have to be pretty dang good i reckon, enjoy a challenge and have a lot of time available [read that as 'maybe need to get a life'Spoiler: Click to expand].
I doubt that it does accept an 'unlocked' map if that's what you mean, if my guess is correct the fw is based on 2xx9: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ].Is this device accept "modifyed" map of other region?
Best address the question to Garmin regarding release of a 'model specific' nuvicam with 3D image support. But as far as Digital traffic is concerned that's already supported and in fact in EU the nuviCamLMT-D comes with the GTM70 [DAB/FM digital traffic and FM TMC receiver] in the box and that includes Germany. In North America, it's the identical unit hardware with GTM 60 HD Radio/FM receiver packed with the NA nuviCamLMTHD. I don't think you can buy retail nuviCam anywhere in those digital traffic markets without the digital traffic receiver packaged with it afaik anyway.I want to buy it when it will be available in Germany (or other country with Digital traffic). But now i think, may be soon Garmin will release another model of NuviCam with 3D? "NuviCam 3D"And i need to wait some time?

Thank you all for your input. Yes, unfortunately it doesn't have 3D maps which really sucks because I bought it to use to update an external system that uses the same data and file structure but I need the gmap3d.img and gmap3d.gma files with it. I made the mistake of assuming that their new top of the line model would have the same features as previous prestige models but I was wrong. Valuable lesson learned... on to the next step. Thanks again!!

It's the first time that Garmin releases a Prestige series device without 3D buildings & terrain feature. It's kind of wierd anyway, i mean they integrated this expensive HD cam & they couldn't afford to enable 3D buildings & terrain feature ? Maybe we should expect later on another Prestige model with 3D buildings & terrain feature enabled so they can sell more devices ?
