    You have wrong cable.
    You must have this when attach cable:

    I Limit USB 500mA
    USB device USB type-B
    USB ID volts 2.25V

    When you find cable that will show 500mA then your Pc will see your nuvi in mass storage.

    p.s.
    If you have external SD card reader, you can use this cable to connect nuvi to Pc.
