In a healthy device (or even a 'bricked' one that can far enough into the boot process) you'd see 'Loader' or similar message on the screen like what you see when it's flashing firmware in preboot or from a gupdate.gcd file.

There's one other thing to try seeing it can access preboot and that's by using a modified boot.bin as an RGN to force it to read the SD. I've got other priorities presently so i'll make it for you later today or you can do it yourself if you don't wish to wait, Post 33 here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    1. I took the 109101000781.rgn file you had me build, ran RGN_TOOL, and saved just the boot part to boot.bin.
    2. I edited boot.bin using HxD, changed the first occurrence of 0C 80 A0 E1 to 0C 80 A0 E3, and saved the result as boot.bin.
    3. Opened boot.bin with RGN_TOOL and saved it as boot.rgn.
    4. Dropped boot.rgn on Updater and let it run. I got a pop-up window with a message about some incompatibility, but that window closed before I could write things down.
    5. Turned unit off and pulled the SD card to check - nothing had been written to it.
    6. I tried flashing 109101000781.rgn again - the screen hung at Loader just like it has been doing.
    7. After letting it sit for several minutes I turned it off and checked the SD card again - still nothing.
    8. Now the unit won't even turn on. I even opened it up and disconnected the battery for several minutes to try to force a reset.
