thank you for all the respond to my post. can advise whether i need to backup my region41 using 2.30 boot.bin?
will this backup region41 file created using v2.30 boot.bin still useful if i update my firmware. if yes, then maybe i will give it a try to backup this file just to play safe.
if no then no point trying.
Thanks in advance.
Neil
For anyone who has the boot.bin's source code adding rrgn is almost trivial (some programming skills are still required, alas!).
For me it's a big problem, as I don't have the source code, so have to disassemble it, find ~5 important functions and install my shims on them very carefully.

@mong736
Region 41 contains valuable information regardless of the fw version of boot.bin used to obtain it. So yes, do the NV backup. I would obtain all regions 1 to 255. Here a kit for that using v2.30 boot.bin: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Sorry, i wasn't trying to be smart. I really didn't know how hard it would be to produce such a fw outside of having garmin's source code.

Ok. Will try tomorrow and report back. Do I need to downgrade fw to 2.30 first??
Ok. tried with my current fw (3.00). The scan completed successfully.
Looking at the file show some region.bin missing so i look at the update.log show some of the parsing region getting error. is it normal?
Also alot of the .bin files are 0KB in size.
Here is the update.log I got after the scan.
Yes, not all regions are used. I'm not familiar with SG 3560 in particular but the log looks reasonable.

ok. don't know what i can do to all this files. I will just keep this files in pc first maybe in future this will become the medicine to my device.
Thanks for your file and all your and others help.
Exactly. It's insurance and could be life-saving medicine, particularly region 41. Keep it safely in a couple of places, maybe burn to a CD as well as a keep copy on your PC.
Like all insurance, we hope we'll never need it.![]()
