There is not new shared perfect protocols!? BT is religion for transfer files and media. No other way is for wireless communication between device! So we are ready to pay any cost for that. And I think you remember the times when bluetooth "spam" was in many hotels and stores?

I am one from this idiots! On my very small boat I need to carry Garmin handheld on my neck in despite of two chartplotter on panel and transom. I do not have any clerks with phone on board usually and I must see the navigation info by myself in any moment. If I would spend more time in the sea I think the Quatix will be more convenient and handy than GPSMAP76CSx. I do not speak about the worth of repeating data from powerful and more clever devices in any place of big boat. Garmin know how to please me! That is a pity what for my money...
