Nuvi 3790. Disappeared features? Model# loss problems ?

For me it started with a looping unit, some trial and error with Cure, searching and reading all what Google could find for me. I got my Nuvi alive but with no features left.
Found this thread when I was almost giving up, a BIG thank you for your help catymag! (and of course all the other Garmin Geniuses@gpspower. PS. I hope I´m not violating any forum rules by writing this thank you post?)

Hello all!

After having re-flashed my nuvi 3790t, following Catymag’s suggestions, the voice control, Bluetooth and traffic are working but now each time I do a full shutdown and start-up of the nuvi (not just “sleep / standby” mode) certain parameters are “forgotten” and need to be re-set, according to my preferences . Specifically:

The “locale” needs to be entered
The language needs to be entered (3 language choices for my locale)
The Garmin End Users licence agreements need to be accepted
The voice command activation phrase needs to be customised

Could there be a file that is missing or is no longer being saved on shutdown? Any ideas would be appreciated.

You just need to drive a bit, like you did the first time, get satellites, use it for a while and all the settings will be retained.

You were right Catymag !!

I could not remember having to enter the locale several times when I first bought it. Maybe I got satellite lock-up straight away the first time. This time I had no signal on the first few re-starts.

Is there a way I can fix my nuvi, I have contacted Garming and they tell me to just do an update.
But my nuvi is already with latest software. anyone had this problem?.

Thank you for your help Catymag, my nuvi 37xx now shows the correct model number, and I have back my bluetooth and voice command.
