Thread: Nuvi 3790. Disappeared features? Model# loss problems ?

First off, thank you Catymag for the link for the 37xx repair. I think I may have made a mistake in the order in which I did things and after doing the backup of the region 41, not sure whether I should have even attempted that, it wrote out the files as expected, but, disabled access to the card slot thereafter so I can at this stage go no further with it. Plugged into a computer the Nuvi is not recognised at all, but the data card slot is. Resident, out of date maps are still accessible, but maps in the slot are not. So, basically just stuck where I was.

From reading other threads, it seems I may still be able to do a convert to 3490 and perhaps that will work, but then I think I might lose the resident Australian maps, and if I do not regain access to the card slot it is basically a brick.

People's thoughts please.

ps. Seeing as the device itself is not recognised by Garmin Express or Windows I feel this may be the end of the line for it. It works, with v5.0 firmware and 2013.10 maps.....RIP?
