I use memory from Nuvi 205/205w/500/1200/1300/1400
I use memory from Nuvi 205/205w/500/1200/1300/1400
when you say memory, do you mean the flash memory chips or the sram/ram chips?
And, other than opening up a unit and guessing which ones are which (well i can do an educated guess based upon part numbers, etc), do you know of any sites that might have some level of documentation on this?
For example, I have a 1490T that is exhibiting the signs in the first post - absolutely will not take a flash and doesnt boot other than pre-boot mode.
I have another "dead" 265w that only boots to white screen. (It used to work, but I played with it a bit too much until i caused it to white screen of death).
I'm wondering if I can use the parts from the 265w to fix the 1490T
I use 205 with SanDisk 1Gb memory bank (this device has broken screen and partially damaged system board).
How do you overwrite region 5?
Do you just add all region of 1xxx on SD and flash with ldr.bin from 205?
I overwrite 05 with region dump from 1410.
How do replace the memory chips, need to reballing the Chips ? 169 pin ?
Yes, reballing is needed.
I have 2 faulty unit of 255W,
Faulty Nuvi Unit A is White screen + no longer get into preboot mode, the LCD screen & case all in mint condition,
Faulty Nuvi Unit B is unable to acquire satellites but it can be get into preboot mode.
If I replace Unit A with SanDisk iNAND memory chip from unit B,
Can Unit A get into Preboot mode and without White screen problem ?
if yes, after I desoldering, reballing and soldering the Chip, what should I do next ?
No, may be GPS chipset is corrupted, memory replacing cannot help
Thanks Alexander for your reply,
What I mean that I will desoldering the memory Chip from the Nuvi which suspected GPS chipset corrupted.
After that, I will replace the memory chip to Nuvi which can't get into preboot mode+White screen.
Does it work ?
