So, yes, region 0x11 most probably contains some voice data.......
    LOL! You don't understand how i could possibly know that? That's a 'back-handed compliment' to which i take absolutely no offence. No, i haven't suddenly become fw savvy overnight Kunix and the simple explanation is i was guessing, hence the '?'. My knowledge of fw is still as shallow as the statement 'the cheque is in the mail'. I don't even have access to a GW presently. My interest here is somewhat academic as i've said before, because of the way US fw V4.50 & 4.60 allows the GW Navis to use NT maps and because i believe/hope there may be a hw relationship between 26xx SPs and the GW units which will allow a fw mod to similarly enable the SPs to break free of non-NT legacy maps.

    There was a language pack issued by Garmin for the 26xx series and it loads 7,857,408 bytes to region 0x11. The D0158_220.rgn uses the boot.bin from V4.40. Maybe it will be of use to you, if so here's the zipped exe: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. I really haven't a clue what it does.

    @carlinux
    Yes, he can do that if he says so, and probably while tap-dancing and eating custard simultaneously.
    I hope for your sake kunix finds the time [maybe then he'll feel obliged to help me too.]

    Yes, I can do it. I'm doing it for almost 4 years.

In this case I must to be sure I don't damage the bike of my friend not to be slaughtered.
    I wasn't talking about the mod guy. He is not willing to participate obviously I was talking about any user of his mod. We can also try dumping European models, I don't mind. Probably, with exactly the same boot.bin after changing its HWID.
    As long as we don't flash any regions (GCD with just boot.bin inside would suffice in this case, as it doesn't flash region 5, unlike most modern nuvis) and we're able to remove GCD file (we can remove CF card), it's not dangerous.

    No compliments intended I just haven't seen that region 0x11 before, so I was surprised. Now your explanation made me understand.

    A 'back-handed compliment' is a somewhere between a compliment and insult in colloquial English. I shouldn't use obscure terms on an international forum (and i was joking anyway).

    Everything in its time naturally.

    I understood this phrase correctly And therefore my "no compliments intended" should be understood as "no offence intended".
