    UPDATE: Found a forum with member who had thst elusive FW5.1

    Installed it and created a map from new 2021 that I just bought specifically for my wing. Not made for wing, just a City Navigator North America NT 2021.10(?).

    Result, no change. POU search still grayed out by name. No search function at all with this map, although system do show correct map installed.

    Revert back to 2017 map, function returned for POI near me but, still not for by name.

    Search under "find" also returned by address search.

    All search function EXCEPT POI by name functional.

    So, back to square #1. Any map I tried past 2017 will cause search function to stop working and grayed out keys. Only POI near me are Honda dealerships, nothing else show as POI.

    UPDATE: In regards to the POI searching issues, I was told that if you edit/created a map using Zumo and load that map to Nav system using standard CF card, ALL search function, including POI search by name will remain functional as it was in Zumo.

    That is, if the map you create come from genuine Garmin map. Unfortunately, I don't have a Zumo so, that makes this hard to prove.

    Fortunately, I ran across a member at another Goldwing site who will forward me his edited West coast map that he created from his Zumo for me to try and see if it'll work on my system.

    I will try that this weekend report back with results...bike's going back to dealer yet again for another issue...Fl light came on.

    One thing after next...

    From my experience with my old 2006 ,FW 4.7,4.8,or 4.9 and my Zumo 590 no POI search. With maps downloaded to my Zumo 590 and resized there still wasn't a POI search feature. As stated previously if the garmin mapset was not created by Garmin for the 2006 thru 2008 US or 2006 thru 2010 Canadian bikes POI search will not work.

    @kodiakbare
    What you've reported in the above post is the best that anyone else has also reported about available search options using an 'unofficial' map. However i think what you've been told as quoted below is unlikely because it seems the POI search problem is based in a firmware/map lock-down. Using a map image in any device does not result in any actual changes being made to the map's data in *.img file itself regardless, POIs included. That said, i for one will be interested in seeing your report after you've tested the map supplied by the zumo user.

    There's an interesting function of some Garmin devices that's not well-known. Loading two map versions covering the same area and selecting only one as active may allow POI's from the inactive map to be utilized by the active map. In the case of GW navis that would mean combining the two img files with GMapTool or using MapInstall to make a composite gmapsupp.img but unfortunately it's not likely that one set of data could be de-selected in the navi's settings i'd think. It's quite a while since i've used a navi on a GW and don't have access to one presently.
