    I mean this one (device.xml)

    -<Model>
    <PartNumber>006-B1101-00</PartNumber>
    <SoftwareVersion>500</SoftwareVersion>
    <Description>nüvi 3750</Description>
    </Model>
    <Id>38045xxxxx</Id>

    In german it's called "Geräte-ID" so it should be UnitID and i.e. displayed when you start the WebUpdater

    Yes, that's the UnitID and there is no good reason to want to change that. That is, unless you are wanting to clone another unit (which is not a 'good' reason). Maybe, i've missed something here but i thought you were wanting to change the Model Number from 3760 to 34xx to display on your nuvi splash screen and in WebUpdater as you posted here:

    But one question remains. During booting I still see 3760 and the WebUpdater also recognizes a 3760, is there a method to "correct" this issue?
    Is that what you are trying to achieve, when you said that you wanted to "correct" this issue?

    Also the part quote in your post above is from the GarminDevice.xml from a 3750. I'm now confused.

    He have nuvi 3750

    We try to find out how to change model number on first screen and in garmindevice.xml
    I change in reg41 decimal 3750 to 3790, result is, 37xx in garmin device.xml
    Now i change hex string for 3750, we will se result tomorow.

    p.s.
    @Neil read all posts not only every other

    He have working nuvi 3760 converted to 34xx and 3750 with touch panel problem.

    As having made a reg 41 backup of my 3760 before flashing it to 3490 I used WinHex to find the device ID in the 41.bin file, but I was not succesful.
    Maybe the ID is crypted or stored in another reg.
    I also have a 3750 (unfortunately with a defective LCD/Touch), with this device I would it risk to patch reg 41.

    Region 41 is protected by some CRCs. If you change something without knowledge you will probably have 34xx instead of 3790.
    In general it's not a big problem because 34xx can have all the features as 3490 have.

    I dont know why you want to try to brick you units for nothing.
    Which is the gain in having 3490 instead of 3790 at start?
    If you have to send it to service it wont help for sure. Useless exercizes IMHO.

    LOL... I did read that yesterday, but forgot it [lost some brain cells overnight as usual ]. Are you going to smack Caty with your police baton too Loly? (Seeing it would cost about over $100 for a new screen, i understand why he's prepared to risk the 3750):

    Let me say something about my navis for a better understanding, hoping this will clarify some confusion

    At the beginning I had a 3790 with a broken display.
    Via Ebay I bought a working 3750 (~40$) and used its display as a substitute for my 3790, so a 3750 without display remains
    Also via Ebay I purchased a working 3760 (~60$) and was looking for a way to use ASR and other features, I found this forum and converted it to a 3490.
    Now, with the help of lolypop000 I'm trying to change UnitID to have LMT (I got the UnitID of a real 3490LMT).
    The question of changing the displayed model type at startup was only inspired by my ambition, it's not really necessary.
    But having a useless 3750 I can do some experiments before trying to patch the converted 3760. If the 3750 is gonna bricked it won't be a big loss...

    I'm hoping he means that he owns the 3490LMT but it's u/s and not economically repairable, but i don't think so. Even if he says he owns it, how can we be sure? We should not help with this Loly.

    @voyager56

    In some nuvis after convert from 37xx to 34xx is problem with number 34xx and we have now time to find out how to repair this with editing reg 41
    You have in reg 41 about 8x writen decimal number and about 4x hex number of model number, if you know how to read reg 41 then is no problem to see this number

    @Neil
    Yes, i agree, we don't help with cloning nuvi.
