Thread: Garmin fleet 790 demo

Does not finish displaying the map on the screen. The installer is OpenTopoMap Argentina.
It also does not work with the MAPEAR ARGENTINA map.

Working OK on a ZTE T86 with Android 10

Some quirks at least with this one so far that may help others get started:

The app needs all permissions

Needs at least initially to see satellites to get past the Garmin logo with bouncing triangle.

Any additional maps or voices added/deleted, then needs a phone re-boot after each change before they are recognized in the app settings.

Works OK with Garmin City Nav, Topo or DEM .img with any custom name in Garmin\Map.
Custom names not recognized in Garmin\System

Doesn't appear TTS voice compatible. Won't accept the newer TTS3 voices files, TTS2 & TTSv can be selected but are silent. Use VCT.

Vehicles even if selected, may need to be re-selected to actually be enabled on screen. E.g. select another vehicle then come back to select the original one you want for it to be displayed instead of the default blue triangle.

I have tested it back then and now and it does have its problems running outside of it's indent GPS platform.

That is a big pain in the backside to do each time.

I think there are other apps that are missing that need to be look into.

The same way as to get traffic you need to plug in a receiver that will only work with a stand-alone unit from Garmin.

I have even deleted the GarminDivice.xml to speed things up along with the SQLite folder.
They both get rebuilt after you go into setting and stop the app.
Then restart it.

If seems to drop out each time you set a location to go to after a minute or so.

Plus putting all of Europe on a smartphone is a lot of GBs that are not needed.

Still some little issue related to speed limit indicator, Cyclops sc,junction view, I try to change the local country from diagnostic page but did not see the country’s list only (others) maybe need updated local xml file if any body have it

3D buildings are not unlocked an attempt to unlock using gimgunlock-0.04 did not bring success. It doesn't see the 3D building program.

move unlocked gmap3d.img to Garmin/map and reboot the device
