The apk John shared in previous post is already ported. Just install on any Android phone between 4.1 and 10.0 and you are good to go.
Yes, were can I find more information on this project to port the Monterra to other Android phones?
I was not aware this even existed before today!

Simply awesome, this does work great.
Would be good to be able to change or add the path to external SD for larger maps.
Tested this on my Tablet and these are the apps that show up.
Spoiler: The apps
It will work with any openstreet topo maps.
Also any Geocaches you have will work along with tracks you have.
Some of the menu items are a little to far to the right of the screen.
Spoiler: menu
You will see when you try to do something with some of the menu items. They will appear in the up right hand and half the names are cut off.
I do not know if it has something to do with testing this on a 7" tablet running Android 4.2.2
Will test on a smartphone later to see if it is the same.
The map opens up very fast.
In order to stop it running in the background I have to go to app setting and Force stop.
Still have testing to do but not bad.......

Apk installed on my Android phone but cannot detect my local Garmin unlocked map.
A detail folder tree ( compared with Street Pilot )will be appreciated
You have to add the map under garmin file before installing the APK of garmin hydra
Thanks. All Ok

OK I tested this now on a ASUS 8" Tablet Android 6 and all the menus are OK.
File layout is the same for most Garmin units.
After you install the app the Garmin folder is made. (you do not have to make one)
Just start any of the apps and the folder is made.
Any map img files you put in goes under the Garmin folder.
Be it gmapprom.img , gmapsupp.img names.
Note if you are using any official Garmin's maps you will need the unlock key file also.
Be it gmapprom.unl or gmapsupp.unl
They go in the Garmin folder too.
Open street maps do not need a unlock key file.
Then you add a GPX folder under the Garmin folder for any tracks you have or Geocaches.
You will need to start those apps so the files show up on the map you use.

I added my maps AFTER installation without issue - but I did have to Force Stop the 'Garmin Outdoor Application' in 'Setup > Apps' and restart it by selecting the desired application.
This is also necessary when adding or changing Geocaches, waypoints, etc.
Rebooting the phone should also do the trick, just like with the original Monterra.
I have done that, and see some issues I would love to help the 'developers' correct, but can not do that if I do not know how to contact them....
Montana 7x0 is NOT Android, no GOA.
