Does anyone know if we can freely add new voice files for this android version of streetpilot?
I see that there are tons of voices to download in this link here: (many of them are in rgn format)
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
The TTSVoiceEditor program [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] reports that these rgn format voice files have a "VPM Type" of "StreetPilot C310/C510" while the "VPM Type" of the voice files included in the first post in this thread appears to be for "Nuvi 7x0/3x0 TTS". My thought was that, "OK, I just need to convert these c310/c510 formatted voices to a nuvi formatted voice so that the android streetpilot app will be able to load it".
Looking online, it appears we need to remove the first 60 bytes of the rgn file with a hex editor and renaming it to a vpm file extension in order to change the voice files into ones with a type of "Nuvi 7x0/3x0 TTS". Afterwards one would just copy the vpm file into the voice folder for streetpilot on android.
I have tried doing so, and the voice file does indeed show up in streetpilot (on android), but I get a "incompatible audio version" error.
Does anyone have any idea about this? Specifically, I am trying to get the "Cantonese, Sin-Ji (TTS)" voice, which is available at that gmaptool page, but not in the included voice files in the first post of this thread.
Any help would be much appreciated =D
