Even if it was unlocked with an old unlocker it will still work in your 255W, but to then work in some later devices unlocking with latest gimgunlock with mapsigpatch is needed. Very recent devices need even more 'treatment' of firmware, for a full explanation see here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Also old UNL and GMA files left on the unit can sometimes interfere with proper operation of a later version map img file regardless of age of the unit and its level of protection.

What is the correct jcv for a nuvi 2445 please? I've downloaded D3192190A split screen, but the file size is 167Kb as opposed to the last ones of filesize 490Kb.

I guess you mean MiB not 'Kb' [which is kilobits] because D3192190A.jcv is 171,632,669 bytes [167,610 KiB or ~164 MiB]. Anyway D3192190A.jcv is the smaller sized split-screen file. All 2xxx can also use the larger D3191190A.jcv file [it's same picture size 212 x 234 pixel and file format as D3192190A.jcv] and is 508,703,260 bytes [~496,781 KiB or 485 MiB]. You most likely used the bigger file last time.

OK thanks for that, and yes, I can't type

I have loaded both on the Garmin now. Any ideas what the sat nav will do about which file to use? Will it ise one or other by default or let me choose?
